Other flags of commands we learned in class?

Hello,

I was wondering if the assignment would require other flags of commands we learned in class. for example, we learned about cut -c, but there are other flags we could use like cut -d which separates based on delimiter. 

Is assignment 1 possible with ONLY the commands and flags we learned in class? Or may we need to explore the rest of the flags of these commands we learned?

The assignment only requires the flags and commands that were presented in class.
