Use Case
Web-based Git repositories are essential for collaborative development projects. Whether you're contributing to open-source, working on a team project, or managing your personal codebase, these platforms simplify version control through a graphical interface and collaboration tools.
Advantages
- Version control in the cloud: Access your codebase from any device with internet access.
- Collaboration: Easily work with teammates using pull requests, issue tracking, and comments.
- Project management tools: Integrated task boards, milestones, and release planning features.
- Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD): Automate testing and deployments with built-in pipelines (especially in GitHub Actions and GitLab CI).
- Open source exposure: For GitHub in particular, it's a great way to build a public portfolio and contribute to major projects.
In the next sub-lesson, we'll share more about how GitHub works.
